Children's and Young Adult Literature Database
Thanks to Eric Svendsen in Computer Services, there is a new enhancement to the Children's and Young Adult Literature Database this fall. Users can now put books in a Book Bag while using the database. Once the Book Bag is complete, users can then print their lists or email the results to any email address. In addition, the display for each hit now shows the call number of the book; previously, users had to go to the library catalog to find the call numbers. Click here to take a look at the new and improved database, which now contains just under 5000 titles.
Websites of the Month
Teachers are sure to need reliable information about the upcoming election. Scholastic News Online's Countdown to Election 2008 is a great site with excellent coverage of all aspects of the election. It is updated daily with a countdown clock, news updates and more. Scroll down to see Games and Quizzes. Teachers, be sure to take a look at For Teachers for lesson plans and more.
The Ohio Social Studies Resource Center has also added a special Election 2008 Resources section to their homepage. Just scroll down a little ways to find links to such resources as CSPAN's Road to the White House and Weekly Reader's Election Central.
New Materials
Over the summer, many new resources were added to the CMC collection, including a new choral music curriculum, additional books in MacMillan/McGraw Hill's elementary science series for Ohio classrooms, and a large number of trade books. To see the resources added just in August, please click here.
